Imam Khomeini (RA)’s view about the rights and status of religious minorities

As the supreme leader and the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA) believed in a special stance for the followers of the religious minorities. The religious minorities consider him as a great man.

Imam Khomeini (RA) has written many works concerning moral, gnostic, philosophical, political and social issues such as three-volume book called “Kouthar book”. Imam Khomeini (RA) has written about the religious minorities in vol.3, page 460-463:

“The Islamic minorities are free to express his/her idea. Islam and the Islamic government will answer to question logically.”

He had confirmed and stressed interviewing with the representative of the Arabic magazine called “Al-Qoumul Arabia” on 1358/8/20:

“All religious minorities are free to do religious and social customs and the Islamic government deems it its duty to defend their rights and security and they are respectful like other Iranian Muslims people.”

Imam Khomeini fulfilled all of his promises and remained firmly on his positions in this regard. In addition of including the rights of the Iranian religious minorities in the 13^th principle of the Islamic Republic Constitution, the Islamic system of government has respected the religious and social rights of minorities; while Shah’s regime had violated Zoroastrians’ rights.

The members of Zoroastrian visited Imam Khomeini (RA) on 1357/11/29 and Dr. Bouzarjomehr, the Zoroastrians’ representative expressed:

“The Zoroastrians of Iran congratulate the victory of the Islamic revolution led by the supreme header Imam Khomeini (RA). It is hoped that all Iranian noble people to be prosperous under the leadership of that spiritual holy header. We are ready to try to build a free and prosperous Iran under the guidance of the supreme header Imam Khomeini (RA).”

Imam’s answer on that memorable day has written on vol.6, page 192:

“In the name of God, the compassionate, the Merciful. I thank you sirs. All minorities must be sure that Islam has behaved the minorities in human and fair manners. Minorities belong to the Iranian people. The unity must be preserved and is the secret of victory… You are Zoroastrians and serves of the country and people. You must conserve the unity. I ask God for the success of all Iranian people.

However, cults aren’t included in minorities. The cults such as the deviant cult of Baha’ism are used by the enemies against   the

Islamic Republic of Iran. We believe that a cult or a group which step against the holy system of government of Iran must be prosecuted and punished.
